Community and Consultancy
Dr Jack Roberts has provided consultancy support to community arts organisations and arts charities, as well as loaning artworks from his art collection to museums exhibitions. Below are a few projects we have been a part of over recent years.
Museum
Young Curators
An Arts Council funded project that brings together Art Addict, The Brampton Museum and Art Gallery and Madeley School. A group of young people from Madeley School will curate a free public exhibition of artworks from Art Addict’s collection to be displayed at the Brampton from February to April 2024.
Shrewsbury Arts Trail 2022
Art Addict loaned a selection of artworks (including works by Tracey Emin, David Shrigley, Kaws and Jeff Koons) to the Shrewsbury Arts Trail 2022 headline exhibition at The Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.
Shrewsbury Arts Trail 2023
Art Addict loaned a selection of artworks (including works by Damien Hirst and L. S. Lowry) to the Shrewsbury Arts Trail 2023 headline exhibition at The Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery.
Community Art
ArtShack
Funded by the Arts Council England and Shropshire Council, ArtShack is a community arts organisation where people can develop your artistic ability in a creative non-judgmental and friendly atmosphere.
Designing a Sensibility for Sustainable Clothing (S4S)
AHRC funded project ran by Wolverhampton University and The University of Exeter which aims to design a sensibility for sustainable clothing through a partnership of community spaces, consultants, project participants, video-makers and academics.
We'll Meet Again
Funded by Heritage Lottery and organised by the Hive Shrewsbury, this project worked with residents of care homes to collect memories and create art in response to WW2.
Young Adult Carers
Funded by the Home Office and managed by the Hive Shrewsbury, this project worked with young people who were carers for a family member. Many of the participants suffered from depression and chronic social anxiety but through arts workshops we worked with these young adults to build confidence, improve skills and find opportunities for career development.
Pack Up Your Troubles
Pack up Your Troubles – funded by The Big Lottery Fund, Severn Side Housing and The Hive Shrewsbury this project worked with residents of care homes to talk about, share stories and create art in response to WW1.
Sutton Farm Community Project
A year-long community engagement project funded by Shropshire Council Community Fund to work with vulnerable community members to tackle social isolation through weekly accessible arts workshops.
Create-Connect
Funded by the Armed Forces Community Covenant Fund and managed by the Hive Shrewsbury, this project worked with children whose parents were serving members of the Army and Royal Air Force to provide opportunities to take part in arts and music workshops. These workshops saw over 50 children attending weekly.
Young Curators
This project, which was ran by The Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and funded by Arts Council England, worked with young people to teach them about curating, museums, collection management and then to put this into practice via publicly facing projects. The main outcome was a major exhibition at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery of contemporary art that was selected from the world-class private collection of Frank Cohen.
